Supporting Turtle Conservation, PTT and BBTNTC Provide Assistance to Pibata Groups and Hold Sea Turtle Release Events

Manokwari | August 14, 2025
As a form of support for community-led wildlife conservation efforts, PT Palapa Timur Telematika (PTT) and the Cenderawasih Bay National Park Authority (BBTNTC) provided assistance to the Pibata Group, a community group active in turtle conservation in the coastal area of Cenderawasih Bay National Park.

This activity was also symbolized by the release of hatchlings (baby turtles) into the sea, carried out in collaboration with several stakeholders, including BAKTI Kominfo Digital (Komdigi), Palapa Ring Barat, PT Len Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Telkomsel, and PT Telkom Indonesia. This action took place on August 14, 2025, in a coastal area that serves as a turtle nesting habitat.

The Pibata Group has played an active role in maintaining coastal ecosystems, particularly in monitoring, protecting, and naturally hatching turtle eggs to support the sustainability of the increasingly threatened turtle population. The support from PTT and BBTNTC is expected to strengthen the role of community groups in marine wildlife conservation and build collective awareness of the importance of biodiversity protection.

This activity is also part of PTT's social and environmental responsibility program in support of the Palapa Ring Timur national strategic project, which traverses the conservation area. Through cross-sector collaboration and local community involvement, it is hoped that conservation programs like this can be sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment and surrounding communities.
