PT Palapa Timur Telematika (PTT) held a Palapa Ring Timur Telecommunications Technology training for 150 students in Wamena, Jayawijaya, on Tuesday (May 7, 2024).
Suhyar Rouli Hasibuan, General Manager of PTT Support, stated that the technology training was used for the Palapa Ring Timur National Strategic Project.
A total of 150 participants from Ninabua Vocational School, Yasores Vocational School, and Baliem University students learned firsthand about Inland Fiber Optic, Submarine Fiber Optic, Microwave Radio, and Power Systems.
The activity was also directly supported by representatives of the Head of the Jayawijaya Regency Education Office and Communications and Information Office, who were also present and opened the event.
"The students should maximize this training so they can continue telecommunications development in Papua, particularly in Wamena, and improve the current telecommunications network," said Arklaus Windesi, Head of the Jayawijaya Regency Communications and Information Office, in his remarks.
Since 2021, PTT has been committed to providing training at vocational schools and universities, particularly in Eastern Indonesia, related to telecommunications technology. Participants will be given the opportunity to undertake internships (PKL) and pursue employment with the company.
"In addition to introducing participants to telecommunications technology, PTT also hopes that all students can deepen their knowledge through internships and even work at PT Palapa Timur Telematika. We are currently prioritizing competent local talent who can work together to develop telecommunications in their regions," said Suhyar.
Also present at this event was a Telkomsel representative who also explained about BTS technology. Telkomsel, in this case, is Operator Partner: PT Palapa Timur Telematika.
The collaboration between PTT, Telkomsel, the local government, and schools is expected to benefit the advancement of telecommunications in Jayawijaya Regency.
