PTT Introduces Fiber Optic Technology to Students in Jayapura

Jayapura - As a form of corporate contribution to the nation, particularly in the Papua region, PT Palapa Timur Telematika, the Implementing Business Entity for the East Palapa Ring Project, once again provided fiber optic training to students from schools and universities in Jayapura.
Directly supported by the Jayapura City Education Office and the Jayapura City Communication and Informatics Office, this activity was successfully held at three locations: Cenderawasih University, SMKN 3, and SMAN 2 Jayapura. The training was attended by students, staff, and teachers. The training not only covered fiber optics but also introduced submarine fiber optic technology, microwave radio, and power systems.
According to Widodo, this activity was very beneficial in increasing knowledge about telecommunications technology among students in the Jayapura region.
"The practical activities of fiber optic splicing using a splicer, using an Optical Power Meter, and using an Optical Time Domain Reflector will enhance students' experience and knowledge of telecommunications. This introduction can also determine whether they will be interested in the same field after graduation," said Widodo, Operations Support for PT Palapa Timur Telematika.
In this training session, PT Palapa Timur also provided education about the East Palapa Ring Project, with the aim of providing students with knowledge and understanding of the development efforts the government has undertaken to support telecommunications progress in the Papua region.
This training also serves as a follow-up to the collaborative commitment between PT Palapa Timur Telematika and the three schools/universities by opening a Field Work Training or internship program.
It is hoped that this activity will identify young talents who can develop their regions, particularly in the telecommunications sector.
