The Minister of Communication and Information Technology Welcomes PT Palapa Timur Telematika's Fiber Optic Practical Training in Kupang

Kupang | July 1, 2022 PT Palapa Timur Telematika (PTT) once again held fiber optic training in the educational environment. This time, PTT held it simultaneously at two locations in East Nusa Tenggara Province: SMKN 1 Kupang and SMK Santo Aloisius Ruteng.

The fiber optic training in Kupang City by PTT took place at SMKN 1 Kupang. The Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo), Johnny G. Plate, attended virtually via Zoom from Jakarta, connected to SMK Santo Aloisius in Ruteng, and was also attended in person by the Head of the Kupang City Communication and Informatics Office, Andre Otta, and the Principal of SMKN 1 Kupang, Drs. Mixon R. N. Abineno, Friday (July 1, 2022).

The Minister of Communication and Informatics stated, "Currently, the government, together with telecommunications operators and fiber optic networks, such as Palapa Timur Telematika, is building digital infrastructure to ensure its distribution is evenly distributed throughout Indonesia. With the availability of digital infrastructure at the upstream level, Minister Johnny encourages teachers and students to maximize its use."

This aligns with the Vision and Mission of the sharing session held by PTT, which aims to provide students in Eastern Indonesia with a deeper understanding of the fiber optic technology industry to prepare them for the future world of work. PTT also offers internship opportunities for universities and schools that have established partnerships (MoUs) with PTT.

The training material began with an explanation of the East Palapa Ring project, the technology involved in the project, an explanation of fiber optics, and practical use of OTDRs, Optical Power Meters, and Splicers. The students' enthusiasm grew even higher when Dedy Sugiarto and Sepri, the practical instructors, opened the question-and-answer session on fiber optics.
