Developments at the East Palapa Ring Project in Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua.

PT. Palapa Timur Telematika (the Company), with its best efforts and full support from security forces (the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Central and Regional Governments, has successfully evacuated one (1) of its employees, a survivor. The evacuation, which took place on Saturday, March 5, 2022, was carried out using TNI/Polri helicopters and a helicopter chartered by the Company, with assistance from joint TNI/Polri personnel to secure the location. According to the survivor, three (3) Company employees, four (4) employees of the Company's contractor, and one (1) local community guide were found dead. The names of the victims are as follows:

1. Billy Garibaldi (Company Employee)
2. Renal Tegasye Tentua (Company Employee)
3. Bona Simanullang (Company Employee)
4. Gogon - Bebi Tabuni (Local Community Guide)
5. Jamaluddin (Employee of the Company's contractor)
6. Syahril Nurdiansyah (Employee of the Company's contractor)
7. Ibo (Employee of the Company's contractor)
8. Eko Septiansyah (Employee of the Company's contractor)

Furthermore, the Company, along with joint TNI/Polri (Indonesian National Armed Forces) personnel, will make every effort to evacuate the eight victims still at Tower B3, part of the Palapa Ring Timur Priority National Strategic Infrastructure Project. The evacuation of survivors is based on security, safety, and weather conditions at the Tower B3 site. Security authorities are still investigating the alleged attack to determine the motive and cause of death of the Company's employees, contractors, and local community guides.

Leon Kakisina, President Director of the Company, stated, "This week is a time of deep sorrow and loss for us, the extended family of PT. Palapa Timur Telematika. In our efforts to build and maintain the sky toll road to ensure equitable telecommunications services in the Papuan community, we experienced a security breach that resulted in the loss of life among our colleagues, employees, workers, and members of the extended Company family." The company also expresses its deepest condolences and apologies to the bereaved families and extends its full attention and concern to the victims and their families. The company will, in its best efforts, continue to facilitate and accompany the families until the bodies can be returned to their homes. The company requests the support of the security forces (TNI and Polri), the Central and Regional Governments, and the wider community to ensure the smooth evacuation of the eight victims. The company will also, in its best efforts, facilitate and provide assistance for the care and recovery of the survivors.

The East Palapa Ring is a National Strategic Priority Infrastructure Project and has experienced repeated security disturbances by unknown individuals at company sites since the inauguration of the East Palapa Ring project in 2019. Therefore, it is hoped that this incident will receive special attention from the Central Government, Regional Governments, and the Security Forces (TNI and Polri) to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
