Maintenance C2 – 16 Hours of Road Travel

Papua | September 16, 2021
Rep C2 Palapa Ring Timur, located in Lereh, Papua, experienced network disruptions some time ago. The Network Operation Center team's alarm system indicated that Rep C2 was experiencing power system damage due to frequently cloudy weather, which prevented optimal energy supply via solar panels.

Located in Lereh, Papua, this repair work was carried out overland by car for approximately 8 hours from Abepura to Kaureh Lereh village. From Kaureh village, the journey continued on foot, taking another 8 hours.

The PTT team consisted of two people and was assisted by six local workers who contributed as porters and helpers to clean up the area around site C2.

The climb to site C2 began at 7 a.m. and required extra effort, as the team had to carry repair equipment through forests, rivers, and occasionally climb cliffs to reach their destination.

The PTT team arrived at the site at 5 p.m. and then set up a tent to rest and spend the night. At the site, the PTT team inspected the generator, tower structure, and all C2 equipment suspected of causing the power outage. Several parts were found that needed to be replaced, including the fan belt, diesel hose, and HFSM module rack.

After replacing the damaged parts, the generator returned to normal operation and the network connection was restored. The PTT team, assisted by local workers, also cleared weeds around the C2 site.
