Industrial Visit by UNAMIN Sorong to the Palapa Ring East NOC

Sorong | June 10, 2026 June 10, 2026. Informatics Engineering students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong showed great enthusiasm as they took turns performing hands-on fiber optic cable splicing at the Palapa Ring Timur NOC in Sorong.

A highlight of the visit was when the students entered the container-like structure known as the "shelter," where they were introduced to the equipment housed inside. They were also given a firsthand look at the network monitoring systems, transmission equipment, and the infrastructure that powers telecommunications network operations.

Furthermore, they received an explanation of the power systems—ranging from rectifiers and backup batteries to the electrical backup systems—that ensure all equipment at the NOC remains operational around the clock.

This activity provided a hands-on experience revealing how telecommunications networks operate behind the scenes, while also offering a clear understanding of the NOC's vital role in maintaining connectivity across Eastern Indonesia.
